New System Raises the Bar for High-Flow Odorizers

Welker Announces Turnkey Odorization Solution for Midstream Sector

Sugar Land, Texas – 18 August 2020 – Welker, Inc. today released the Accu/Line™ Hi Odorant Injection System for consistent proportional to flow odorization for flow rates from 50 Mscfh up to 70 MMscfh and pipelines with a maximum allowable operating pressure of 1800 psig.

Welker scaled up its standard Accu/Line™ Odorant Injection System to deliver an upscale turnkey odorizer to high-pressure and high-volume applications like those found on transmission pipelines and at large city gate stations. The Accu/Line™ Hi is a smart system boasting the features needed to bring midstream odorization into the 21st century: an intuitive touch screen controller, redundant self-priming pumps, accurate injection volume measurement, and real-time performance monitoring.

“We saw a need in the midstream natural gas segment for a reliable, maintenance-friendly odorizer capable of the high volumes required. To meet and exceed that need, we used proven technologies to develop the Accu/Line™ Hi,” said Stephen Sams, PE, Welker’s Director of Business – Odorization. “Immune to vapor lock and with redundant pumps and automatic failover, this system ensures continuous odorization, even in the most challenging applications.”

The third system in the series, the Accu/Line™ Hi brings the quality and benefits of the standard system to midstream natural gas applications. Welker’s positive displacement pumps automatically purge odorant vapors with each actuation, eliminating the costly downtime required for manual priming. And with identical pumps, odorant injection continues even when the primary pump requires maintenance. Equipped with an external adjustment, the pumps’ injection volumes can be changed as needed without interrupting operations. The system’s odorant flow meter measures the actual injection volume of every pump stroke and communicates this to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), which automatically adjusts the injection rate to changing flow conditions. The PLC can connect to a control room via Modbus or Ethernet for performance monitoring and system troubleshooting on site and off.
